Lessons from Mothers
May 19th, 2010On Mother’s Day, we looked at the lives of Hannah (Samuel’s mom) and Mary (Jesus’ mom) to see some principles that can help us live successful Christian lives. To do these things, you don’t have to have natural children or even be a female.
1 Samuel 1:1-28 recounts Hannah’s story; following are the lessons we can learn from her life:
- Know that God loves us
- Desire to reproduce
- Intercede for our children (before & after birth)
- Dedicate our offspring to the Lord
- Position our children to encounter God
In Luke 1:26-38, we see the following principles in Mary’s life:
- Know that you are highly favored
- Don’t disqualify yourself for lack of experience
- Obey no matter the cost
- Be willing to be pregnant
- Know that nothing is impossible with God
